Fiona Hurley was judging BIS at Clonmel Ch Show, the first of the 2017 Munster Circuit events and also the one with the top entry as they had 1705 dogs entered. At the end of the day, in the centre of the excellent BIS ring, Fiona gave the nod for the top award to Jalena Semjonova’s Giant Schnauzer, Ch Robmarralee Back in Black, two year old ‘Gaffer’ following on from his Best in Show win at Cork, having earlier won his fourth group of the year, which takes him to the top of the GAIN Petfoods/Irish Canine Press Group 2 Top Dog Leaderboard. Reserve BIS was the Whippet, Brendan Nolan’s Collooney Candy Floss; 23 months old ‘Flossy’ was BIS at Sligo. Ivor and Michelle Keelan’s American Cocker Spaniel, Sh Ch Bunnybois Brainstorm at Tejas, another just 2 years old, was BIS 3. Back southwards again, this time to Castleisland, for the Tralee Club’s annual event, this year with 1,414 dogs. It was Canadian, Dr Michael Woods who had the task of bringing Tralee, and the 2017 Circuit, to a close, and this he did when he handed the large BIS rosette to a delighted Alice O’Reilly for her Toy Poodle ‘Eric’; Ch Tirkane Limited Edition having moved up one place from his RBIS spot just two days earlier. Reserve BIS this time went to another Cork resident, Colm & Rose Hastings’ ‘Guinness’, the Old English Sheepdog, Ch Lambluvs Irish Brew being no stranger to top honours with his many groups, currently top of the GAIN Petfoods/Irish Canine Press Group 1 Top Dog Leaderboard. This show was sponsored for the first time, by PETMANIA, represented here by Linda Cavanagh.
